About Vivek

I graduated from Boston University this past May with degrees in Biochemistry and Classics. Yes, this curriculum is an odd combination, but I think I need both—science and humanities—to appreciate the technology and the people of this world.

The kid

At the age of eleven, I became involved with my dad's IL-based software company, MultiQuest Corporation. I learned how to program in C++ so I could help his under-staffed company (I was a full-blown, calculator-watch-wearing geek). I continued to work with my dad even after we moved to Massachusetts in 1997, when his company was bought out.

The quasi-adult

Life as a computer nerd, however, wasn't as attractive after I took AP Biology at the end of high school. It's one thing to program a machine, but the possibility of programming life seduced me into the pharmaceutical and medical fields.

I just couldn't let go of my computing past, though, so I started making websites. Even though I'm pursuing a career in science, I'm continuing with web consulting because I really enjoy it.

The human

Aside from work-related things, I have a few hobbies. For as long as I can remember, I've hogged every musical instrument that has come into my home. When I'm grounded for making too much noise, I love reading and learning new languages (recently, I've been working on Latin and Hindi). My character is indebted to these hobbies, career goals, and certainly the people in my life, without whom I simply wouldn't be functional.
